SEO: What Is It?
Search Engine Optimization is the art of increasing the volume and quality of site visitors to a particular web page or a site from search engines like Google, Yahoo!, Bing, Ask etc. SEO aims at maximizing the incoming links that are directed towards your web page or site, so as to reach a higher position in search results pages. SEO also aims at minimizing the bounce rate, i.e., the number of visitors who abandon a site after landing on the home page. This article focuses on defining the various concepts of SEO and their effect on the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs).
The success of a search engine marketing campaign depends on how well the SEM is applied. As far as SEO is concerned, there are four basic areas in which we can evaluate its working. First, it ensures the high quality links that lead to our website. Second, it improves the relevancy of the content written for a particular web page or site by improving its keyword ranking.
Once the relevancy of the content is ensured, SEO also ensures that the site appears in the top positions of the search engine results pages (SERPs). Thirdly, it makes sure that the website is included in the first page of the search engine results for a particular key phrase. Fourthly, it improves the overall visibility of the site in the internet via link building techniques. On the whole, SEO ensures that the volume of traffic increases, the volume and quality of conversions improves, and the website appears more credible and successful.
The main purpose of SEO is to increase the amount of inbound links directed towards the site. In other words, the goal of a search engine marketing strategy is to make sure that your website is included in as many web directories as possible. The more the number of web directories you are included in, the more likely your site will be listed on the first page of the search engine results. This way, your website can be identified and your brand visible to more potential customers.
An efficient SEO strategy should have a number of elements in place. First, a good SEO copywriting technique must be in place, which includes several facets such as keyword research, creating keyword rich content, writing content optimization, and creating meta tags and other relevant keywords. Second, good SEO strategies should ensure the inclusion of backlinks to all the websites in your network. The links must be from relevant websites that will boost the search engine rankings of your site. Then there are the anchor texts, the keywords you choose for the keywords in the anchor text, the content itself, and the relevance of the keywords in the content. These last two components affect the SERPs of your site.
Another important aspect of SEO is updating the links to your site regularly. Sites that don’t update their links usually lose their rank and link popularity over time. Another way to achieve the best search engine results is to build your links slowly, but steadily so your site remains within the top 10 pages of the search engine results. The main reason for this is because it takes time to get the required link juice to your site and, therefore, improve your link popularity.
